If trees could talk, what sort of things would they have to say?

If trees could talk, let’s just say that the world would become chaotic in the beginning. The idea of a non - homo sapien talking would startle humans and as usual would result in utter chaos. All this time, trees have been silent, so if they magically gain the ability to talk, then they would DEFINITELY have a lot to say (I know I would if I were a tree).

I have always imagined trees to have personalities. Like the delicate jasmine plant to be calm and collected, the big ol’ banyan tree to have a saint-like personality, roses to have colour-based personalities (🟡friendly, 🔴vivacious, ⚪gentle, pink-nurturing) and a gossiping bougainvillea, to name a few.

Now back to the point – after the initial panic subsides, I guess people would give an ear to what the trees have to say or maybe even engage in conversations. I can totally imagine the trees asking the birds about the weather, enquiring the passers-by about their day-to-day activities, cautioning the little kids playing in parks and having a nice little chat with the senior citizens. I guess they would give some cooking advice to all the people in the kitchen and telling Ayurveda companies about the undiscovered benefits of some plants or even expose the phony Ayurveda products! We would also hear the trees complaining about the atrocities committed against their kind - how trees have been cut for infrastructure and development, without being replanted, how forests are depleting because of global warming, extinction of different plant species, increase in forest fires in recent times, the use of harmful pesticides and one of the most common issues – plucking of flowers and leaves. Rather than having a full-blown riot, I guess the trees would calmly, peacefully make us understand their value and request us to not be selfish, and that humans are not the only species to inhabit the planet, so stop dominating the earth and think about the survival of all living beings on it, not just their own kind. They would encourage us to find economic solutions to planting more trees – like using takeout boxes or plastic bottles or empty jam jars or even eggshells for planting saplings. They will ask us to not only take care of the trees which are verge of extinction, but to also care for trees that are commonly found, because (God forbid) – one day even the Gulmohar tree could become an endangered species! They would encourage us to live harmoniously with our kind as well as all the animals, birds and trees and stop cruelty against anyone and everyone on this planet. After all, the Earth isn’t anybody’s property to stake claim on. The trees would encourage us to live and let live. 🌳

A late Earth Day post. Hope you liked it. Until next time! Toodles!
